August started off with a bang, as we had a trip that boated 30 fish. The last week or two has been quite good, as well! Not just for numbers, but the boat has seen bigger quality fish on the carpet, too! The heat has been almost unbearable, but the early morning and late evening bite has been great. Switching techniques, from the old-school Tx-rig Mag-worm to the 1/2oz Swing-head with a 4.5in X-Zone Adrenaline Craw dangling from it has worked wonders. Seems the Talapia color is the best for this time of year as it probably resembles the bluegill. The Dark Junebug has also produced. Slow-rolling it across the bottom, in 8-10ft, with a few pauses to keep bottom contact has put multiple 5+lb'ers in the boat. Let's not forget about the Megabass Vision 110jr plus-1. This lure has been lights out for the suspended bass over deep water.
All-in-all, the month of August has been really good. If we could get a drop or two of rain, that would be nice. I know! Careful what you ask for, huh?
Here is one, of several, over 5lb.
