July is ending with some better weather and an uptick on the fish bite. We had a tough go for a few weeks, given the lack of rain and severe heat. The end of July and the first part of August seem to be setting up for a good bite. We are seeing the fish start to school back up over the deeper water and we are also finding more fish sitting in the 8-10ft depth, as well. Keying in on the creek channels and feeder ditches seems to be the ticket for success. I'm catching fish on a variety of baits. TX-rig worm. (10.5in. Junebug) Black/Blue jig. Shad colored Chatter-bait. Even a 3-5ft diving square-bill thrown in, and around, the heavy timber. All of these are getting bites. So, grab your sunscreen, polarized shades, and a wide-brim hat and get out here to fish!
