Dog days? Yeah, it can be tough out there during the mid-summer months. But that shouldn't keep you from getting out early and late in the day. The fishing can get tough during these times, but the techniques stay the same. First and foremost, find the thermocline. This is the line, under water, that tells you where NOT to fish. Currently, Lake Naconiche has a thermocline at 11ft. This means to throw baits that you can keep at, or just above, this depth. Are you in 22ft of water? Throw a chatter-bait or underspin. Count it down 4-5 seconds (8-10ft) and run it at this depth. Or, find water that is 8-10ft deep and run a TX-rig worm or Carolina rig. (I like Zoom 'Ol Monster worms in Junebug or Blueberry colors)
When the temperature gets too hot to fish... go in and take a nice nap! :-)
