Once the water valve got shut off, we can't buy the rain. Typical. June was hot! Seems hotter ever year, but that's only 'cause we get another year older. The spinner bait and Chatter-bait stayed good for the first half of the month, but seems like it's time to follow the thermocline and fish 1, of 2, patterns.
Find 8-12ft of water and drag the bottom with Mag-worms or a drop-shot rig. If you have any open water, a fast twitch jerkbait can draw a big bite. Over deeper water, you MUST stay above the thermocline. Any shad-like lure that can get in the 8-11ft zone is a good choice. Bass feed upward, mostly, so run it above their heads. If you find yourself on a group of aggressive fish, bust out the topwater lure. I prefer a "spook" style walking bait, but ploppers, poppers, and frogs in the shallow timber can be a blast!
Not the best image quality, but here's that 7.01 I mentioned last month.
