5.27.22 FISHING REPORT

Writer's picture: Eric WolfeEric Wolfe

What happened to the month of May!? Dang, it just flew by!

We've had a NICE run of fishing lately. Chalk it up to post-spawn? Super-Blood-Eclipse moon? Consistent weather patters? Yes, yes and yes.

This post-spawn has been excellent for good numbers of 2 to 4lb bass. They have been stacking up over deeper water near the creek channels. As is par, they are ambushing the shad. So, you know what I'm about to say... Match the Hatch! Throw shad style lures. Our shad are on the smaller side, so do exactly that. Downsize to a 3" or 3.5" lure. A-rigs, Underpins, Jerkbaits (plus 1), and Chatter-baits, are all working well for the suspending fish. The thermocline has started around 14ft, so if you find yourself in 12-14ft of water, a worm is in order. And don't forget to have some topwater fun early, and late in the day! I like walking baits and poppers right now.

*Note* I've added a "Custom" guide trip to my services. Now, you can enjoy an evening trip (typically 5:30pm to 8:30pm) during the week, if you choose. It's a great way to enjoy some fishing without the long, hot, day on the water.

So, come Attack the Nac!

One of our BEST clients, Mark, with a solid 4.2lb'er. Thx M.L.!!
