April was another off and on month. Weather patterns dictated most of the successes and failures. The spawn was in full swing most of the time, so that made it tough to get good numbers in the boat. Toward the last couple weeks the beds looked empty so that should have brought on the schooled-up off shore bite. It did not. I hope the post-spawn bite will be back in vouge all of May. Most of our fish in April were caught using a weightless fluke near the shoreline in the grass. Square-bills and the Berkley Gilly got some too. A bright spot was this 11.2 lb beauty caught by my neighbor. Way to go S.S.!
