From the freezer to 83 degrees in less than a month. From winter patterns to bedding bass in two weeks! Too soon in my opinion. Water temps went from 51 degrees to 65 degrees in one week's time. This triggered the early migration to the shallows. The females haven't yet got on beds, but it won't take long at this rate.
Obviously, Naconiche is tough for bedding bass, due to the steep banks and floating timber on almost every bank. The key is to remember that a lot of beds are in "deeper" water. Meaning that you can't see them unless it's direct sunlight and the water is very clear. As you are slowly creeping along the bank to look for beds, you are probably boating right over many you cant see. So, try approaching from the middle of a pocket and throw a few in the 6-8ft areas before getting too close. This is, unfortunately, a crap-shoot style approach because you cant exactly pinpoint your offering.
My offerings are as follows:
Googan Bandito Bug
Lizard
Craw
My favorite colors: Reds, Black w/ red flake, or Junebug.
I try to go weightless, but that can be tough in the 6-8ft areas. So, I'll peg-stop a light (1/8th oz) Tx-rig.
The last 3 years has had a "trickle spawn". Lasting for weeks. We'll see what this EARLY spawn has in store.
Time change to Spring forward coming soon!! Yay, more daylight!!
This was an early buck that fell prey to the Bandito Bug. (Trying the TRD hook with weight)
Come Attack the Nac!
