After the first freeze and an all-day rain event, the fish are a bit scattered. But, we are still catching a few fattys. For the most part the bigger fish are starting to get into a winter pattern. Meaning, they are hunkered down in deeper water or hiding amongst the heavy timber in the remaining grass. Here are some techniques for each situation:
Deep water = deep diving crankbait. I think the R2S Tactical DD75 is the best for this. (Mirrored Minnow color)
Heavy timber with grass = square bill crankbait. I like a KVD 1.5 or Lucky Craft silent. Use natural colors for this ultra clear water. The Lucky Craft pulled this 5lb 8oz beauty!
