October was... well... October. It always starts off strong, but ends up with the lake in turnover. Here we are, as I type this report, in full turnover mode.
This year, we've had two "False Fall" cold fronts. Not only have we had cold nights with hot days, but we haven't seen a drop of rain in over a month. This will only serve to extend the brown water for longer than we'd like.
Before the turnover, the square-bill, jerkbait and the Wobble-head were doing damage. As soon as the lake clears up we should get back to a fun time to fish.
The jerkbait will be very good until deep winter. The bass will be eating shad until then, as well. Shad means the following lures:
Umbrella rig, Glide bait, Chatter-bait, Spinner bait, and just about any top water lure in your box. Fun times!
Come on, Fall!
Come Attack the Nac!
